FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
"Searching for server" appearing on a CardMate terminals indicates it is not communicating with the computer. The first thing you should always do in this case is reboot (Power down and back on) your PC. If the problem persists then you need to determine whether all of your CardMates are displaying Searching for server, or just one. This will tell you whether the problem is being caused by something they all share.

All my CardMates are displaying "Searching for server"
Items to check:

Ethernet switch
- Is ethernet switch's power cable plugged in?
- Is it powered and displaying lights for all ports with a cable in them?
- Are all the CAT-5 cables plugged in? (Total cables=# of CardMates + 1 to the PC)

IP address settings on the network card got changed to something other than those outlined in the CardWorks manual. This often happens when you call your internet service provider for support because they are unfamiliar with the CardMate system.

CAT-5 cable from the ethernet switch to the PC
- Is it plugged in on both ends?
- Has the cable between ethernet switch and PC been tested using CAT-5 testers?
- Did PC accidently get plugged into the uplink port on the ethernet switch? If so, move it to a different port.

Is the PC or network card faulty? This question can only be answered by a qualified computer technician.
